Aerogel Felt Overview

Aerogel felt is a flexible thermal insulation felt made of nano-silica or metal aerogel as the main material, which is compounded with carbon fiber or ceramic glass fiber wool or pre-oxidized fiber felt through a special process. Advantages of Aerogel Felt

1. Excellent thermal insulation effect

Application of Aerogel Felt

Nano aerogel felt is a material with excellent thermal insulation properties. Its pore size is smaller than the mean free path of air molecules under normal pressure. Therefore, the air molecules in the aerogel voids are approximately stationary, thereby avoiding the convective heat transfer and condensation of the air. The extremely low bulk density of the glue and the tortuous paths of the nanomesh structure also prevent heat conduction from gases and solids, and the empty walls minimize thermal radiation. These three aspects work together to block almost all heat transfer methods. The aerogel achieves the thermal insulation effect that other materials cannot match, and is even far lower than the thermal conductivity of a few air at room temperature of 0.025W/mK, reaching below 0.018W/mK.
